EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Extra curricular activities form an integral part of our students college life. Our students are encouraged to take part in various cultural events and inter-collegiate competitions.

• Clubs: Under the auspices of the various department clubs like COMET, E2S, MUSES, PACE, LOGICA, MEDIA WINGS, INTEGRA AND BIOHUES, a variety of activities are organized and journals such as CHUVADU, BITS-N-BYTES, QUEST, BIOSPARK & ENVISION are released. As part of Co-Curricular Activities, Talent Meet, Alpha Fest, etc are conducted every year to bring out the latent talents of the students.

STAFF ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

The college organized an orientation programme for faculty on 13th June 2011. Resource person  Mr. Vasudevan, Acting Regional Officer, USIEF briefed participants on opportunities for academic and professional development of faculty through Fulbright Scholarships. Principal and Vice Principal participated.

FRESHERS’ ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

AASC welcomed the first year students and their parents on 22nd June 2011 as part of the Freshers’ Orientation Programme. Chairperson of Alpha Group of Institutions, Dr. Mrs. Grace George briefed the audience on the history of the college and its group of institutions. Chief Guest for the occasion, Mr. Neil Vimal Kumar, Assistant Head, RZIM, Life Focus Society, emphasized the need for holistic education. Principal and Vice Principal participated. Event snap . . .

STUDENT FORUM INAUGURAL

The College inaugurated its Student Forum on 8.7.2011. Chief Guest Mr. Md. Shakeel Akhter, I.P.S., Inspector General of Police, Headquarters, Chennai, presented the medallions to Forum members and congratulated them on being elected. He encouraged students to develop leadership skills, positive attitude and strong will.  The Principal administered the oath of office to Forum members to mark the beginning of their duties this academic year. S. Priyanka, President - Student Forum, 2011-12 delivered the vote of thanks.

FRESHERS’ TALENT MEET

The Freshers’ Talent Show on the afternoon of 8th July 2011 provided a platform for first year students to display their talents. The audience was treated to an array of entertainment programmes like western and classical dance, solo singing and mimicry. This was followed by an entertainment programme by the seniors in an attempt to make the first years feel welcome and at home.

ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT CELL :

In order to guide the students to become Visionary Leaders of the Future, EDC is in action with modern ideas of management and industry opportunities. Students are trained and encouraged to take on the world with a judicious mix of business acumen and social responsibility.

NSS

The active NSS unit of the College under the supervision of a trained Programme Officer undertakes regular social and community service activities including adult education, environmental issues, health and many more.

In collaboration with the WNS Global Service (a leading BPO company), the college runs a computer centre and library in the VPU Middle School, the adopted school of the NSS wing of the College.

THE YOUTH RED CROSS

The Youth Red Cross Unit of the College is affiliated to the Indian Red Cross Society and membership is open to all students. Blood donation camps and awareness programmes are organized in the College by the Red Cross Society regularly.

NCC

The College has a contingent of 50 cadets under the guidance of a trained Officer of the rank of Lieutenant. Parades, camps and training for RDC selection are some of the routine activities

CONSUMER CELL:

The Consumer cell creates awareness among the students about the rights of the consumers and extends its service to the local community.

SPORTS

The sprawling play ground in the college provides ample scope for sports and games both indoor and outdoor. For select games, professional coaching is provided for participation in intercollegiate, State and National level Competitions.
