Madras University Permanent Affiliation 2009

A milestone in the history of the institution, when the College obtained Permanent Affiliation to the Madras University in 2009.

SIFE - World Cup

ALPHA SIFE INDIA emerged as runners-up in Berlin, Germany - Oct. 2009.

ALPHA SIFE carried out three entrepreneurship programmess -two of which were completely new (Tomato Pulping and Environmental Sustainability) and the other, Seaweed Cultivation which has influenced exponential growth since 2007. These projects dealt with introducing business opportunities to India's most efficient population -the agro based community.

The team travelled to Hosur and with the help of their Business Advisory Board Members introduced 120 farmers to pulping of a small portion of tomato produce. This stabilized their income from a meagre Rs. 2,000 per month to almost Rs. 12,500 per month.

The second project focussed on Environmental Sustainability. Partnering with SIFE NOTTINGHAM, the teams introduced organic farming and vermiculture in Pulicat, to enhance fodder production.

Seaweed Cultivation, Alpha SIFE's core project in 2008 focused on sustainability during the year. This project was chosen for the Internationally Acclaimed Climate Change Championship 2009, by the British Council.

• 2006 -SIFE National Champion 2006 and one of the Finalists in SIFE World Cup 2006.
• 2008 - SIFE National Champion 2008 and Second Runner-up in SIFE World Cup 2008.
• 2009 - SIFE National Champion 2009 and First Runner-up in SIFE World Cup 2009.

Alpha Distinguished Citizen Awards. 01st February 2008.

Eminent personalities were awarded 'Alpha Distinguished Citizen Awards' at the decennial celebrations function of Alpha Arts and Science College.
