The Training cum Placement Cell of the college is an active body that plays an important role in bridging the needs of Industry and equipping students for the job market. Members of the cell interact with corporate houses and industries to provide suitable employment opportunities to students. They help students determine educational and career goals and acquire professional skills that enhance employment prospects. The Student Knowledge Enrichment Program initiated in 2010 aims to enhance technical know-how and communication skills of eligible candidates. The focus is on honing the skills of candidates in key areas like Aptitude, Numerical Ability, Group Discussion and Technical facets. The cell also trains students in classroom interaction, group discussion, quiz and IQ tests and conducts mock interviews to augment skills. Additionally, it organizes programmes on personality development, and communication skills, career planning and career mapping, technology and management. It also arranges career counseling at regular intervals. Recruitment drives, both off and on campus, are organized periodically to benefit final year students. The Cell also offers placement services to students who have passed out of the college.

PLACEMENT CELL

Eligibility:

Those students of the Final Year UG degree or PG degree Classes who fulfill the following conditions alone will be eligible for Campus recruitment or for placements through College Career Guidance cell.

  • Good academic performance throughout the course
  • A minimum of 80% of Attendance every year of study
  • Good involvement in extracurricular and co-curricular activities and good leadership qualities
  • Free of any major disciplinary action during the course
  • Excellent character, behavior and conduct

TCP – ALPHA TRAINING CUM PLACEMENT 2009-2010

  1. The Training Cum Placement (TCP) cell of Alpha Arts and Science College with the Principal, Dr.Leela Abraham as Convenor and the Vice Principal Dr. R.Shanthi as Coordinator began its activities for the year 2009 - 2010 with a training program on 3rd December 2009 at the college premises for the final year UG & PG students.
  1. The TCP team is in touch with Industries and corporate to enhance the various placement and training activities.

Faculty Development Programme

  1. A five day intensive training for 36 faculty members on “Personality Enrichment” was organized by the college.
  2.  The FDP was conducted by Dr.Usha Rani in our college premises.

 ON – GOING CAMPUS TRAINING

The training cum placement cell expressed its desire to regularly organize the final and pre-final year students group discussion, aptitude test and tech talk so as to prepare the students for campus recruitment.

The TCP conducting the following events to train the final Year students.

  1. Aptitude test
  2. Group Discussion
  3. Tech talk

 APTITUDE TEST:

The final year students have been classified into two groups as science and Arts to conduct the aptitude test for every week.

  1. GROUP DISCUSSION:

          The first round of discussion conducted in two batches.
          The groups were given the topics beforehand and evaluators assigned to assess the students. A total of five rounds of discussion is targeted for the selected students.

  1. Tech Talk:

          The tech talk will be organized by inviting industrial or academic experts to deliver talk on recent trends and practices.

CAMPUS DRIVE

  1. The TCP plans to conduct more campus drives for the final year students.
  2. The TCP is conducting both On/Off campus events towards the placement.

OFF CAMPUS
 Hewlett Packard

  1. Helwett Packard visited our college on 7th January 2010, for conducting campus interview for passed out batches (2008 & 2009).
  2. Around 130 candidates from various colleges have participated and four of our alumni students got selected.

WIPRO WASE –OFF CAMPUS.
For Wipro-WASE programme, around 50 students were registered, five students got selected for the final round interview and one student Mr.Biswaranjan Sarangi  of Department of  Computer Application has been selected with a stidpend of Rs.9,000 per month in the first year, Rs.12,000 per month in the second year, Rs.16,000 in the third year and Rs.21,000 in the fourth year. He would pursue his MS in Software Engineering sponsored by WIPRO from BITS, Pilani.
