Bio-Medical Engineering
Bio-Medical Engineers design devices
used in various medical procedures, such as computer
used to analyse blood or the laser systems used
in corrective eye surgery. They develop artificial
organs, imaging systems such as magnetic resonance,
ultra-sound and x-ray and devices for automating
insulin injections or controlling body functions.
Bio-Medical Engineers learn to
use traditional engineering expertise to anlayse
and solve problems in Biology and medicines, thus
enhancing healthcare. They apply advanced technology
to the complex problems of medical care. Bio-medical
engineers have given the medical world an array
of scientific riches that have made life better.
They include hearing aid, cardiac pacemakers,
artificial kidney, synthetic blood vessels, joints
and limbs.

Employment opportunities for bio-medical engineers
are immense,
- Demand for better medical devices
and equipment designed by bio-medical engineers.
- Computer assisted surgery
- Research in molecular, cellular
and tissue engineering increases the demand
for bio-medical engineers.
- The rehabilitation and orthopaedic
engineering fields requires the services of
biomedical engineers
