About the Department.

Alpha College of Engineering, a unit of Alpha Group of Institutions, was established in the year 2006. The department of Information Technology came into existence from the year 2006. Initially the, annual intake was 60. In tune with the growing demand profile globally norms, semester system is being followed.

The admission to the first year is done on the basis of ranking of the combined total marks viz., 10+2 marks and marks in Common Entrance Test. In addition, admissions on the second year are done by the Directorate of Technical Education, exclusively for diploma holders, to the extent of 10% of the sanctioned strength, under lateral entry scheme.

Right from its inspection, the Department has steadily grown in all spheres in terms of student strength, physical Infrastructure, number of ;abs - subject wise, as per the rapid up gradations introduced by AICTE in the recent times and progressive changes in syllabi of Madras / Anna Universities.

Central and Department Library, number of systems in labs, requisite software, organization and establishment of in-house maintenance wing and its training.

Brilliant faculty strengthened through qualification improvement programs, human resources in the form if trained supporting staff, all round quality development programs and operating systems for improving upon the functional effectiveness in the department.

The Department has at present well-qualified Faculty Members with various specializations relevant for the industry.
