Alpha Matriculation Higher Secondary School was founded in 1967 by the late Shri.M.G.Thomas and is managed by the Alpha Educational Society registered under the Societies (Registration) Act 1860. It is assisted by a Development Committee and an Advisory Committee. Until 1983, the school was functioning under the Central Board of Secondary Education. A switch over to the Matriculation system under the Board of Matriculation Schools, Tamil Nadu was from 1984. The Higher Secondary Section (Plus Two) was introduced in 1985-86. The school celebrated its Silver Jubilee in the year 1992.
