BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

The Department of Biomedical Engineering started in the year 2006. The department works towards helping students gain comprehensive knowledge of the industrial requirements.

INFRASTRUCTURE

The department has well-equipped, state-of-the-art laboratories that meet the requirements and norms set by Anna University and enable students and scholars to pursue research. Well-equipped classrooms and the seminar hall are added credentials to the department, facilitating hassle-free rendering of lectures, conducting group discussions, seminars and guest lecturers for the benefit of the student community.

Department of Biomedical engineering located on the second floor of the building has the following well equipped laboratories – Pathology & Microbiology, Biochemistry & Human Physiology, Bio Medical Instrumentation and Diagnostic & Therapeutic Equipment.

BIO MEDICAL INSTRUMENTATION LAB / DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC EQUIPMENT LAB:

The Biomedical Instrumentation and DTE (Diagnostic and Therapeutic Equipment’s) lab is equipped with specialized and general purpose computer based data acquisition systems that enable experiments that involve the recording and analysis of signals associated with the cardiovascular, neuromuscular, and respiratory systems. The lab workstations have industry standard programming software like Math works MATLAB to filter, process, and evaluate experimentally acquired data, allowing for a more accurate assessment of the recorded signals and the correlation with the biological basis of their origin. The lab was intentionally designed to serve as a multipurpose teaching facility to support fundamental curricular objectives that include biomedical engineering concepts and signal analysis concepts imparted in Biomedical Signals and Analysis.

PATHOLOGY AND MICROBIOLOGY LAB / BIOCHEMISTRY AND HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY LAB:
