INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The Department of Information Technology was established in 2006, under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. The department has excellent infrastructural facilities to provide quality education in the areas of Information Technology. The faculty members seek to establish, maintain and advance a broad understanding of Computer Science in order to fulfil their academic and professional goals.
INFRASTRUCTURE
IT LABORATORY– I
Total number of computers installed: 60
Configuration: HCL Dual core 2.6GHz, 160GB Hard Disk, 1GB RAM, 15.6’’ TFT Monitor
The lab is well equipped with uninterrupted power supply and the latest softwares. Students are encouraged to practice and hone their skills using the latest technologies and softwares such as Cloud, Grid and basic C programmes.
IT LABORATORY– II

Configuration: HCL Dual core 2.2GHz, 160GB Hard Disk, 1GB RAM, 15.6’’ TFT Monitor
The pre-final year students are allotted a separate computer with tools such as case tools, IBM Rational Rose, Eclipse, and Netbeans for conducting security and network laboratory.
COMMUNICATION LABORATORY

Clubbed with the Language Development Cell, the computer systems are installed with English mastery software. The students are trained in the areas of verbal communication and group communication.

The Department of Information Technology is part of Oracle Academy, which enables the students to excel in Oracle packages. The Department also is part of CISCO Networking Academy through which the students become network experts and get CCNA Certification. The department is a member of ICTACT Academy through which the communication skills of students are developed through the Youth Circle Program. The department has signed an MoU with ICTACT for creating CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR DATA ANALYTICS PROGRAMME. The department also promotes continuous learning and research in core and emerging areas with help of IIT alumni club ‘PALS’.

HOD Profile
Dr.S.Sampath received B.E degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Bharathiyar University, M.E. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Bharathiyar University and Ph.D (Information and Communication Engineering) from Anna University, Chennai. The focus of his research work is Certain Investigations on Web Mining Using Association Rule with Weighted Association, SystolicTree and Boosting and Bagging Model. He has more than two decades of teaching experience. His major areas of interest include Data Mining and Big Data. He has published several research articles in National and International Conferences and Journals. He is a life member of ISTE and CSI. He has also published a book titled Data Structures and Algorithms.
